Industrial Heritage
Wales
and in particular Snowdonia has been greatly shaped by the
hand of man and many of the old workings are now tourist attractions
offering fascinating insights into the lives of those who
lived and worked amongst
the hills and mountains.
You can explore old slate
quarries or visit the Welsh
National Museum of slate at Llanberis; many narrow gauge steam
railways used to carry slate but now carry tourists, some
of them on beautiful journeys into the hills; hydro-electric
power still generates much electricity and you can visit some
of the power stations or drive to the spectacular upper reservoirs
high in the mountains; or you can visit copper mines or woollen
mills, craft shops and galleries - the choice is nearly endless!
And don't forget that excursions can be made to specific locations;
maybe a day trip to Llangollen, including a visit to the ruined
abbey of Valle Crucis; visit the beautiful gardens at Bodnant
and Conwy with its city walls and ancient castle; ride the
Ffestiniog Railway or maybe even go walking, confident in
the knowledge that your car awaits you at the other end. With
Scenic Travel your options are almost
endless...
