Castles |
North
Wales abounds with castles of all kinds; romantic castles, impressive
castles, broken castles, historic castles. Your stay can include
visits to the castles of Harlech, Criccieth, Caernarfon, Dolbadarn,
Castell Dinas Bran, Conwy, Beaumaris and Dolwyddelan. Each has
its own story to tell and each will captivate you in its own
way. |
| Ancient Remains |
The
past is everywhere in
North Wales. From the Roman
fort of Segontium at
Caernarfon, via the "Roman
Steps" above Harlech to the
bronze-age mountaintop
settlement of Tre'r Ceiri,
the land abounds in tombs,
barrows and stone circles
- a rich mythology and
archaeology to explore. |
Gardens |
|
You'll
be surprised at how verdant
the gardens can be in such
spectacular landscape. Whilst en
route to North wales you can visit
the gardens at Powys Castle near
Welshpool. Once in the north there
are the world-famous gardens at
Bodnant in the Conwy Valley to
explore, the sweeping gardens of
Penrhyn Castle in which to relax,
not forgetting the Italianate fantasy
village of Portmeirion - truly a place
in which to lose yourself. Nearby are
the fascinating many-roomed
gardens of Plas Brondanw, the
family home of Portmeirion's
creator, Sir Clough Williams-Ellis.
In each case you will find world-class gardens with all-year
round interest and an abundance of rich, lush planting. |
