Few
landscapes have been
shaped by man as much as North
Wales. Great slate quarries and
mines supplied roofing materials
for the whole world. Today most
have closed, but thanks to some
visionary thinking their legacy lives
on for you to enjoy today. At
Llechwedd Caverns you can ride
into the mountain on a special
tramway or descend to the depths
of the mine for a son et lumiére
show underground. At Llanberis
one of the largest slate mines is
now a country park and host to a
fascinating Museum of the Slate
Industry. In many places you can
ride the narrow gauge steam trains that once carried slate but
now carry visitors high into the mountains.
You can explore copper mines, woollen mills, potteries, even
a power station built inside the heart of a mountain! The rich
industrial heritage of Wales is alive and waiting for you to
explore it. |

You
do not have to visit any
tourist attraction to enjoy North
Wales. The craggy peaks of
Snowdonia lack the height of the
Alps but they have all the majesty.
(There's even a steam train all
the way to the summit of the
highest peak!) The wild coast of
the Lleyn Peninsula offers
stunning coastal walks and
silver-sanded beaches. There
are mountain roads to traverse,
alpine valleys to explore, soft rural
moorlands to enjoy, waterfalls,
rivers and lakes everywhere.
This is an enchanting landscape
that can be enjoyed either on foot,
(there is terrific walking of all grades to be found), or from
the comfort of a car. Scenic Travel
knows all the back roads with the best views and access to the
'forgotten' places. Just give us the
word and we'll take you there! |
Let Scenic Travel unlock the heart and
soul of this landscape for you, allowing you to explore it at
your own pace and taking you to places no coach tour ever reaches.
You will have exactly the holiday you want, with no effort or
planning on your part, and if you're tired at the end of a grand
day out remember someone else will be driving you to dinner
and back again!
